DISABLED war hero Joe Hill has been branded a “nuisance” and banned from his local pub – at the age of 91!
The wheelchair-bound Royal Navy veteran has drunk in the Greenwood pub in Helmswood Drive, Chelmsley Wood, every week for the last 30 years.
Now he’s now been told his custom is no longer wanted.
Joe used to drive his mobility scooter the few yards from his home to his former local where a helpful barmaid would bring out his favourite half a mild outside to him.
The 60s-style estate pub has no suitable ramps to enable him easy access, but Joe has been following the same routine for several years so he can enjoy his tipple.
And now he’s been banned from the Greenwood, he said he has nowhere else he can go to enjoy a drink. Joe said: “When I went to the pub last week the landlord told me that I was a f***ing pest and I was barred.
“I was totally shocked because I first went into the pub on the day it opened and I have been visiting it regularly ever since.
