Waste-to-energy facility becoming a reality, say SAEWA chair and vice-chair
The vice-chair of the Southern Alberta Energy from Waste Alliance (SAEWA) told members recently that they need to decide whether they want to be partners in building a waste-to-energy facility.
"Six years from now you'll either be a partner in our energy-to-waste facility, or you're going to be a client," Paul Ryan said Oct. 14 at the Champion Community Hall.
Ryan spoke at the conclusion of a meeting in which SAEWA members, who came to Champion from all over southern Alberta, heard about another waste-to-energy project and information about the finances behind building a waste-to-energy facility in southern Alberta.
"I see a lot of interest and a lot of excitement" in the room, said Ryan.
But, as members heard at the meeting, it is a long process taking years to complete, he said.
Kim Craig, the chair of SAEWA, pointed out that waste-to-energy facilities have a definitive lifecycle, unlike that of a landfill.

I wish manufacturer worked more on building better powerchairs for young adults. Seniors may be ok with the gray car eat with the red shroud deal, but I’m not, and don’t even want to use the same bottom half but with an other color, and not it seams as if they want us all to be only using it inside put in some home with no big bumpy thresh holds where the doors are etc, The sidewalks are bad, and my chair handles it better. On a trip mine worked all day and I moved faster, they had problems.
