HIGH POINT (MCT) — A local auto dealer will make his was to Las Vegas as a nominee for one of the auto industry's most prestigious awards.
Tim Ilderton, general manager and dealer at Ilderton Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram on South Main Street is nominated for the 2012 TIME Dealer of the Year.
Ilderton is one of 50 automobile dealers out of 17,000 nationwide to be nominated for one of the auto industry's most coveted awards.
Nominees will be honored and the winner will be announced at the National Auto Dealers Association Convention and Exposition in Las Vegas on Feb. 4.
Ally Bank will make charitable contributions to each nominee's local community cause. The 2012 national TIME Dealer of the Year will receive a $10,000 contribution for the nonprofit of his or her choice.
Ilderton began his career in the auto industry doing various jobs for his dad at the Ilderton dealership. After graduating East Carolina University in 1973, Ilderton returned to work at the of the dealership his grandfather opened in 1926. He worked in the service department before moving to the business and finance department then managing the handicap van conversion department.

Judy Lester is wheelchair-bound. But trust me, when she thinks a company is treating her unfairly, she will fight harder than most who can walk unassisted.
Lester of Storrs, was stricken with polio in 1950 at the age of 7. At first she was able to use long leg braces and crutches to walk. But by 1995 her condition worsened and she could only remain mobile using a powered wheelchair.
And five years ago she was able to improve her mobility by purchasing a wheelchair ramp for her van, which operates automatically with a remove control.
It worked fine until April 26 when the power ramp quit on her. She did not have the strength to manually lower the ramp, so she found some strangers in a parking lot who lowered the ramp, allowing her to drive her wheelchair into the vehicle, and they then raised the ramp so she could drive back home.
